Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Davis

Mary Elizabeth Shook Davis, age 99, of Big Ridge, Glenville, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 at The Hermitage of Sylva, NC. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Clercy Shook. Mary was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Bible/Big Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; John Douglas Davis, five brothers, five sisters and a family friend; Joan Harris. Surviving are two daughters; JoAnn (Bill) Suddreth of Lenoir, NC and Libby (Henry) Solesbee of Nantahala, NC, two granddaughters; Susanne (Matt) Pagel and Josh (Drew) Solesbee and three grandchildren; Brock, Katie and Miller Henry. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Mountain Bible/Big Ridge Baptist Church of Glenville, NC with Rev. Dennis Burrell and Brother Charlie Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Mountain Bible/Big Ridge Baptist Church in Mary's honor. Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva, NC is serving the family.
