Obituary of William Barry Thomasson

William “Barry” Thomasson, 65, of Whittier, NC formerly of Florida passed away Friday, April 17, 2020. He is the son of the late William Otis and Elizabeth Ada (Wilson) Thomasson. Barry was born in Manassas, VA and after he graduated high school he moved to Florida. While in Florida he worked and retired as a train engineer for CSX Transportation. He loved working with his hands and woodworking but most of all he had a love for fishing. After retiring from the railroad he decided to move to the mountains, which was a place he had loved to visit and he decided to make home. He is survived by two sisters; Bonny Shifflett and Becky Thomasson both of Manassas, VA; one brother Bobby Thomasson of Manassas, VA; nephew Michael Shifflett and wife Jill, their kids Abigail and Andrew of Bristow, VA; two nieces Amy Grooms and husband David, their kids Viktoria and Brent of Manassas, VA and Joni Hammer and husband Todd, their kids Emilee, Connor and Benjamin of Nokesville, VA. The family will hold a memorial service for Barry at a later date.
