Obituary of Kenneth David Mathis

Kenny (Elic) Mathis, 62, of Sylva, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday May 15, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County he was the son of the late Elic Mathis and Margaret Mathis of Sylva. Kenny was a U.S. Army Veteran who loved farming. He was employed by Western Builders for over 16 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Mathis. In addition to his mother he is survived by His wife of 31 years Kathy Jones Mathis 2 Daughters- Kristen Jones and Amber Mathis both of Sylva 4 Grandchildren- Kristen, Dylan, Raygen and Matthew The family will receive friends Sunday evening May 18 from 6 until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. .
