Obituary of Stephen O. Norman

Stephen O. Norman, 66, of Waynesville formerly of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, Monday September 22, 2014. A native of Jackson County he was the son of the late Grady and Ruth Keener Norman. He graduated from Western Carolina University in 1969 and then served in the U.S.Army during the Viet Nam era. Co-owner of the Parkway Restaurant, he retired from Con-Met after 30 years of service. An avid golfer he was a member of the Laurel Ridge Country Club. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father in law Jim Haskett. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Carolyn Haskett Norman Daughter- Angie Norman of Sylva Son- David Norman of Waynesville Grandchildren- Laura, Corey, Annah, Lauren and Emma 2 Great Grandchildren- Eli and Jayce Sister- Janice Wilson and her husband Steve of Franklin Brother- Dr. Timothy Norman and his wife Kathryn of Richmond, VA Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday September 25 at Lovedale Baptist Church of which he was a member, with the Revs. Mike Farmer and Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8:00 PM at Appalachian Funeral Services. In Lieu of flowers the family asks to make a donation to one's favorite charity in Stephens memory. . .
