Obituary of Robert L. Baldwin, Sr.

Robert L. Baldwin, Sr., age 84, of Whittier passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his residence. A native of Jackson County, he is the son of the late Jeter and Sally Merle Baldwin. He is survived by his wife Eloise Wykle Baldwin. He served in the United State Army and also in the Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post# 104. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Western Carolina University. He was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife Eloise he is survived by three sons Robert Baldwin Jr. and wife Carol of Tuckasegee, NC, Jeter Baldwin and wife Crystal of Whittier, NC and Roy Baldwin of Alaska; two daughters Jeanette Searle of Baltimore, MD and Katherine Adams of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Mike Baldwin and Rev. David Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Barkers Creek Cemetery. American Legion Post #104 will handle graveside service. Pall Bearers are Kyle Baldwin, Eddie Wykle, Ethan Norton, Cody Baldwin, James Middleton and Adrian Ontiveros. Appalachian Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
