Obituary of George Alfred Stillwell

George Alfred Stillwell, age 66, of Sylva passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Medwest Harris of Sylva, NC. George was born September 17, 1948 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Fredrick Earl Stillwell, Sr. and the late Annie Fullwood Stillwell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Buddy Stillwell, and a sister, Jo Garner. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Madge Wilson Stillwell; three sons, Matt (Lindsey), Jeff (Lena), and Luke (Jenny); four brothers, Bill, Warren, Dicky, and Coleman Stillwell; five sisters, Jeannie Kelley, Libby Hall, Margie Lewis, Paula Dowdle, Sue Sanders, Carolyn Shriver; four grandchildren, Shelby, Branson, Carolina, and Ruby; his mother-in-law, Polly Wilson, and a sister-in-law, Sally Sutton. George was a very generous, loving, and funny man. He treasured his family. He was the owner of Stillwell Enterprises of Sylva. He was a member and former trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Sylva, and a member of the Top Cat Coffee Club. A Celebration Of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Sylva on Tuesday, December 16. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm with the Revs Mike Shuford, Paul Christy, Earl Holden, Doc Luker, and Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will be in the Stillwell Cemetery in Little Savannah, Sylva. All George's nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Christian Ministries, PO Box 188, Sylva, NC 28779. . .
