Obituary of Della Cordelia Henderson

Della Cordelia Henderson, age 92, of Tuckasegee died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Skyland Care Center of Sylva, NC. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Della was born June 3, 1924. She is the daughter of the late Baxter and the late Lazora (Alexander) Mathis. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William C. Henderson, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. She spent her life caring for her family. Della's garden and flowers were her pride and joy. She was a member of Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Edwin and his wife Ann Henderson of Brandon, Fla., Leonard and his wife Linda Henderson of Tuckasegee, N.C., a daughter, Regina and her husband Dennis Bradley of Whittier, N.C., seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, one sister Ella Mae and her husband Leighton Moss, and sister-in-law Lydia Mathis also survive The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 24 at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Larry Nations officiating. Burial will be in Pine Creek Church Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 pm on Sunday before the funeral.
