My name is Sabrina Franklin I am Cecil Ray Franklin's granddaughter. Cecil was a big part of my life especially a part of my dad John Franklin. My pops is my everything we don't know what together. We have tons of great amazing memories with Pops that I would never forget. Just like when I was little I always wanted to go fishing. So pops gathered up all the fishing supplies we needed. Me and my dad John Franklin and my amazing pops took me out to Lake Fontana in Swain County. An oh boy one thing I know for sure is that pops always have the best spots. Me and my pops reeled in a big one about half my size when I was little. And trust me that's not all we did because when we had the chance to get out we would cuz pops always loved to get up and go. Pop really love the mountains especially the Great Smoky Mountain and Blue Ridge. We would always take a trip up to menges Mills and sit by the water with me, my dad John, my sister Emily, my mom Melissa, and my amazing wonderful pops and mamaw , and playful little Tanner man. And we would go to The Oconaluftee Visitor Center. To go see the pigs and feed them and pet them. But the one thing we loved the most was the old wooden house that stand out during the fall time when all the leaves have fallen. but pops always loved to go sit on the Blue Ridge Parkway right above The Oconaluftee Visitors Center and blow his big Horn. Pop's really love to blow his horn even if it made people mad, he would just blow away. But another thing we really enjoyed the most with all of us together was The Oconaluftee Island Park, we love going down there to put our feet in the water and feed the Ducks. Even when we had the money we would go feed the Bears. And the days that he didn't feel too well we was just stay inside and eat orange slices and watch scary movies. But won't turn around that time of the year we could always go get maybe 2 or 4 goats. We would always go up in the pastor and pet the goats and sometimes just sit up there and talk to them. But one thing pops up the most was going to KFC to get the huge bucket of chicken dinners. And we would always take it to The Pavilions in Cherokee to eat as a family even little Tanner man. And during the summer times we would always have a little sleep over and watch funny movie, scary movies, sometimes in an action movies. But most of all my favorite part about everyday that I was with my pops we would always sit down and have story time. And if you didn't listen sure enough popsci going to repeat the story over again. I can't forget about his hilarious jokes they always cracked me up. But be care cause he might make u laugh so hard you pee yourself. But that man right there was a strong kind-hearted man who always had a positive attitude.. and even though he was dealing with his health problems that he had there was not a day that he let his problems put him down. My pops is so amazing and has always been there thro the bad time and good times. The sad times and mad times. Even through thick and thin. Me ,My pops, and my dad John Franklin have always been close to this amazing man I call Pops or best friend and to the most handsome intelligent man my dad calls his father. We was like three peas in a pot, and yet will always be. Pops was my everything and meant a hole lot to me also. But yet even if he is here or he's not he will always be in my heart. An plus I know he is somewhere up there in heaven looking down on me. Watching every move I make and every breath I take to be sure I am doing the right things. Pops I am so glad your in a better place because I know your very happy an I don't have to see my amazing pops suffer in any kind or pain anymore. But pops I hope that place up there in heaven is really wonderful for you and great grandpa but I will never forget pops your my greatest and amazingest Best friend, we done everything together and I miss you sooo much

My name is Kateline Caldwell (kaitlynn Lilith on Facebook) and Cecil was my actual grandfather. My father Matthew was his son. He had an affair on Sheryl in 1982 with a woman named Wanda Sue Cagle. She hid it and married a man named Tim Caldwell. I would love to know about my step grandparents.. if not I understand but I am sorry for your loss.

Dear family,
So sorry for your loss. Cecil was tough and fought a long battle. He never gave up. I saw him not too long ago and he was positive about his health.
I have known him about 50 years. Saw him almost every day for years when I worked at the post office.
Goodbye Cecil, cousin and friend.
