Obituary of Joe Mack Buchanan

Joe Mack Buchanan, 82, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday July 27, 2016. Son of the late Tom L. and Carrie Sutton Buchanan, he was preceded in death by his brothers Don and Jack and also by his sister Carolyn. He was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had 39 years of service with the NC Department of Transportation. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Cereeta Dillard Buchanan 2 Children- Angela Wood (Michael) of Charlotte, NC Max Buchanan of Davidson, NC 4 Grandchildren- Charity Wood Smith (Matt) of Cary, NC Joseph Wood (Tabitha) of Charlotte, NC Jacob Buchanan of Chapel Hill, NC Ben Buchanan of Davidson, NC One Great Grandchild- Rory Mack Wood He is also survived by his brothers Dan and Bill of Sylva and Tommy of Brevard Sisters- Lula Alexander Kloss of Franklin and Helen Morgan (Frank) of Winston-Salem A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 pm Saturday July 30 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Eddie Dietz officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home . .
