Obituary of Carroll Asbury Phillips

Carroll Phillips 81, born June 12, 1935, passed away peacefully Sunday September 18, 2016 at Skyland Care Center. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Sherman and Berdie (Ashe) Phillips. He was preceded in death by his son Bobby Dale Phillips and one brother, Thelmon Phillips. He was a construction worker and a carpenter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. His pride was keeping his vehicles clean. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Ashe Phillips. One son Jerry Phillips (Angie) of Asheville, NC; two daughters Joann Brown (Tom) of Darrington, WA and Cindie Phillips (Josh) of Sylva, NC; two brothers Talmalge Phillips of Brevard, NC and Theo Phillips of Darrington, WA; nine grandchildren Brandon Phillips (Tonya), Misty Pasztor (Tomi), Matt Robinson, Jodi Brown, Dayna Wood (Cody), Jason Brown (Shawna), Keaston Eritt (Rebekah), Skyler Sutton and Braydon Sutton. 10 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 24, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Saturday. Burial will be at the Middleton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Queen, Shannon Fish, Brandon Phillips, Joshua Slagle, Matt Robinson and Tomi Pasztor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Skyler Sutton and Braydon Sutton. The family will be at the home of Cindie Phillips. A special thanks to the staff of Asheville Health Care and Skyland Care Center.
