Obituary of Grover Eugene Cogdill

Grover Eugene Cogdill, age 84, of Sylva died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Blue Ridge on the Mountain of Sylva, NC. Grover was born January 3, 1932 in Sylva, NC. He is the son of the late John Will and the late Ada (Adams) Cogdill. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Wikle Cogdill; a brother, Furman L. Cogdill, and two sisters, Lou Fisher and Betty Jane Cogdill. Surviving are his two children, Tracy (Russell) Salter and Stephen (Patty) Cogdill; one granddaughter, Ruthie Salter; a brother Frank Cogdill of Balsam Grove; and a sister, Sue Cogdill (Wayne) Caldwell of Sylva. Grover retired from the Dayco Corporation. He was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church, and enjoyed working with cattle. The funeral will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 13 at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Rev. Lloyd Fish officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. .
