I remember Mr. Marshall so fondly from many visits to play with my friend Joan. He was gentle and kind and helped us with our math homework when things started to get difficult at school. I know how much he will be missed --especially this time of year --and send my deepest condolences to the whole family.

Susan and David et al,
I look forward to hearing stories about James. Mathematicians have a special place in my heart since I am one (sort of). I also honor and respect his service to our great country.
Cindi and I love you all.
Have a safe journey and we will get together when you return.

Ron was my first mentor when I came to WCU years ago. We talked many hours of teachers, students, calculators, and education. He guided me through establishing my place in the department, and he introduced me to many teachers in the region. My memories of Ron are of him being positive, upbeat, and wryly funny. I celebrate his life and legacy of educating outstanding mathematics teachers for our region.
