Obituary of Barbaranne Hicks

Mrs. Barbaranne Hicks, age 90, died Wednesday, February 8 at her home after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Jerome Y Trigg and Tennie W Higgison of Mississippi, and was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Trigg and her husband Ralph L Hicks. She lived in the Cashiers and Sapphire Valley area of North Carolina for 36 years. Barbaranne will be remembered as a beautiful, elegant southern lady with an incredible smile, quick wit, and a contagious laugh who loved to help others. She was a respected and successful Local Real Estate Agent/Broker with Doherty Wilson Realty. Barbaranne and her husband Ralph, a retired USAF Lt Colonel and local Attorney previously lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida where they raised their family prior to moving to North Carolina. She is survived by twin daughters Leigh W Kouns of Cocoa Beach, FL (Husband Richard, daughter Jamie, son Richard) and Anne M Hudspeth of Jones, OK (Husband Keith, son Loren, daughter Angie) and son Ralph W Hicks of Cullowhee, NC (Wife Deborah), and 7 great grandchildren (Kylie, Bailey, Casey, Sofia, Koen, Jaden, Nathan). Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Monday, February 27 at 11:00 AM followed by a memorial reception.
