Obituary of Roy Wayne Wells

Mr. Roy WAYNE Wells, of Sylva, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the age of 74. Wayne is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Kevin Wells of Washougal, WA, Kelly Wells of Cartersville, GA, and Ken Wells of Tellico Plains, TN; brother, Myron Wells of Springfield, OH, and sister Helen Sobers of Big Rapids, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Merrill Wells. Wayne was born to parents Roy Albert and Clarabelle Wells on December 4, 1942 in Pitchin, Ohio. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in New Carlisle, OH in 1960. He served in the Air Force for 4 years with an honorable discharge in 1966. In 1962, he married Yvonne after meeting on Homestead Air Force Base. The couple welcomed 3 children into their home over the years. Wayne and Yvonne were marred for 55 years. Wayne loved travelling and was a very spiritual, generous and compassionate person. He was a 2nd dad and mentor to many. A memorial service is scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Speedwell Missionary Baptist Church in Cullowhee, NC, with a private reception to follow.
