Obituary of Nettie Green

Nettie McDonald Green, 92, of the Greens Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, North Carolina. Formerly of Murphy, North Carolina, she had lived in Jackson County since 1956 and was a friend to many people over the years. She had retired from the Telephone Company and had been employed as a teacher in Murphy and her last employment was as switchboard operator at Harris Reginal Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Noah and Dovie Fricks McDonald. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Joe O. Green (1989), three brothers; Leonard, Olen and Fred McDonald and 4 sisters; Lola Dockery, Beatrice Kephart, Bessie Johnson and Wilma Mae Dockery. Surviving is her brother- John "J.D." McDonald of Cary, NC Sister-in-laws- Wanda (Olen) McDonald, Mary Alma Green Ward and Myrtle Brooks Green Several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday March 4 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Mike Farmer and Brent Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery Pallbearers will be John Ward, Joshua Carnes, Jason Webb, Wendall Chastain, Frankie Dills and Jaime Dills
