Obituary of Calvin Autrey

Calvin "Little Coot" Alvoyd Autrey, Sr, 82 of Sylva, went to be with his Lord on Sunday March 5, 2017.He was the son of the late Joseph Hezekiah Autrey and the late Etrulia Lusk Autrey. He was born on September 7, 1934 in Jackson County. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Delma Jean Aikens Autrey; two daughters, Patricia Autrey (Steve) Shuler and Pamela Autrey (Mickey) Bumgarner; a son, Calvin Alvoyd (Kathy) Autrey, Jr "Roundman"; a sister Mary Ophelia (Tom) Hunter of Cashers, six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren with three more to arrive this year. He is also survived by many extended family and friends. Special friends are the Clawson Family and Carson Cookston. Dad, you and Zell are together again on your greatest trip ever. Calvin retired from Smoky Mountain High School, where he worked as a janitor; he was a member of Cashiers Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR and was part of the pit crew for his sister Ophie and brother in law Tom Hunter along with driver Roy Mayne of Hunter Racing. A memorial service will be held at Appalachian Funeral Services at 2:00 pm n Saturday, March 11, Rev. Johnny Norris and Rev. Tommy Madden officiating. Family and friends will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
