Obituary of John William Mayrer

John Mayrer, 63, of Sylva, NC passed away March 7, 2017 at his residence. He was the son of the late George and Meredith Mayrer. He is survived by his wife Lucille Mayrer who he was married to for 33 years. He was an avid fisherman. He was born in New Jersey and later moved to upstate New York. Nine years ago, because of his love for the mountains, he and Lucille moved to the mountains of North Carolina. He made many friends in Western North Carolina whom he cherished dearly. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Greg Mayrer of Philipsburg, MT, a sister, Fran Prokosch and husband Bruce of Southport, NC, and a brother, Dave Mayrer and wife Antoinette of Nutley, NJ. He was a favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at Appalachian Funeral Services from 10:00 – 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Parks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Appalachian Funeral Services and Crematorium is serving the family.
