Obituary of Fred C. Franks
Fred Cecil Franks, 86, Glenville, died February 7,2012. Mr. Franks was born July 7, 1925 in Jackson County, the son of the late Lewis Burt and the late Floda Mae Hooper Franks. He operated Franks Grocery in Glenville and Cashiers. He was a charter member of the Glenville - Cashiers Rescue Squad. He served in the Army and loved to hunt. Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Samuel Lee Pressley Franks and a son Larry Franks, one sister and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Bently Franks; two sisters: Opal Bryson and Pearl Lusk of Glenville; three brothers, Clyde, Marion, and Myron Franks, all of Tuckasegee; a daughter - in - law, Renolga Huggins and husband Ronnie of Lake Toxaway; two granddaughters, Kim F. Ferguson and husband Don of Charlotte and Melanie H. McCall and husband Wesley of Lake Toxaway; a great granddaughter, Courtney Wilson of Charlotte; a great grandson, Peyton McCall of Lake Toxaway; three step great grandchildren, Zach, Riley, and Bailey Ferguson; four stepsons, Gary and Lewis Williams of Pickens, SC and Roger and Fred Williams of Easley, SC; two stepdaughters, Glenda Smith and Laura Duncan of Easley, SC; 18 stepgrandchildren and 25 stepgreat grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Hamburg Baptist Church in Glenville from 6 :00 until 8 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 and the funeral will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 am. Rev. Johnny Norris will officiate, burial will be in Blue Ridge Garden of Memory in Pisgah Forest, NC. Pall bearers will be Wesley McCall, Don Ferguson, Tommy Smathers, Gary Bryson, Randy Bryson and Jessie Franks.
