Obituary of Frankie James Dills

Frankie "Frank" James Dills, Sr., age 68, of Cullowhee passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at his residence. He is the son of the late Zernie and Inez Dills. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Laurel Dills. Frank served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. During his time in the services he served on the honor guard for President Truman's funeral service. He worked for Jackson Paper 20 years and he retired from Smoky Mountain Air. He was a lifetime member of Black Mountain Baptist Church. He was a long-time member and supporter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons Frankie James Dills Jr. and his wife Laura of Sylva and Jamie Dills and his wife Angie of Sylva, NC; four grandsons Brett, Alex, Noah and Rory Dills; one granddaughter Alexis Dills; three brothers Dan (Patsy) Dills, Bill (Helen) Dills and Cecil (Gale) Dills; one sister Sally (Gary) Wood; three brother-in-law's Willie (Mary Jane) Bryson, Vincent (Tammy) Bryson, Sean (Melissa) Bryson; one sister-in-law Barbara (Jim) Lacy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter Dakota Dills and two brother in laws Billy and Paul Bryson. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Roger Stewman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Bryson, Tighe Hooper, Jeremy Wood, Mickey Dills, Brian Wood, Sonny Bryson. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Rory's Ramblers Team for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4600 Park Rd. Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28209 memo: Rory's Rambler. Appalachian Funeral Services are handling arrangements for the family.
