Obituary of Betty Joyce Parris

Betty Parris, 83 of Dillsboro peacefully slipped away in her sleep on Sunday May 7, 2017. She was the wife of Bill Parris for sixty-three years and was the daughter of the late Claude and Lucille Jacobs. Mrs. Parris was the oldest lifelong member of Jarrett Memorial Baptist Church in Dillsboro. She was a devoted homemaker who loved and cared for her family, church and community. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Conrad and Bill Jacobs; and one sister, Joan Taylor. In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by two sons, Tim (Pat) Parris and Mike Parris; grandchildren, Beth Parris, Travis Parris, Elizabeth Wike, Erin Parris, Whitney Parris, Andee Price and Elijah Parris; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Gail Turner of Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Cory Boone officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Upper Crawford Cemetery.
