Obituary of Helen Frazier
Helen Kornegay Frazier, 97, died on Friday, February 10th, 2012 at the Hermitage Assisted Care Center in Dillsboro, NC following a period of declining health.
Originally from the Rones Chapel community in Mount Olive, NC she was the oldest of eight and preceded in death by her father, Emmett Gray Kornegay, mother, Naomie Wells Kornegay, sisters, Elma Gray Thigpen and Evelyn Kornegay of Mt. Olive and Thelma Campbell of Greensboro, NC; brothers John Lewis Kornegay, William Kornegay and Edward Kornegay of Mt. Olive and Hervey Kornegay of Fairfax, VA.
In 1945 she moved to Raleigh, NC and began working for the NC Department of Agriculture. While in Raleigh she met her late husband Connor Alexander Frazier and moved to his hometown of Claremont, NC in 1961. Her family and church friends at Bethlehem United Methodist Church were her life's joy and passion from that time on.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Gray Frazier, daughter-in-law Vickey Cope Frazier and grandsons Patrick Thomas Frazier and Jarrett Alexander Frazier all of Sylva, NC, numerous nieces and nephews and her adopted family the residents and wonderful staff at the Hermitage Assisted Care Center in Dillsboro.
