Obituary of Evelyn Wellmon

Evelyn Wellmon, age 80, of 202 Dillardtown Road, Sylva died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Med West Harris of Sylva, NC. Evelyn was born August 7, 1931 in Jackson County. She is the daughter of the late Harvey and the late Lena (Shepherd) Beasley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Willis Wellmon, and four sisters, Mattie Deitz, Winnie Dillard, Alice Fox, and Etta Frizzell. She was employed by as a homemaker. She loved to read and garden. She enjoyed college sports and loved camping and swimming. She was a lifetime member of East Sylva Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Brian Wellmon, and a daughter, Barbara Culp, both of Sylva; a brother, Carroll Beasley of York, SC; a sister Marie Parker of Sylva, six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15 at Appalachian Funeral Services Chapel, 165 Skyland Dr., Sylva, NC with Revs. Mike Farmer and Jeff Powell officiating. Burial will be in Keener Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14 from 6 until 8 pm at Appalachian. .
