Obituary of Johnny Bascom Watson

Johnny Bascom Watson, 73, of Tuckasegee, passed away on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 in Sylva. Mr. Watson was born February 11th, 1944 and was the son of the late Bill and Dovie (Shook) Watson. He was a member of Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church. He loved hunting and fishing as well as watching westerns and cartoons and loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Willa Mae Golden and Iva Nell Watson and 3 brothers; James Watson, Charles Watson, and Ramson Watson. 2 half-brothers; Robert and Gene as well as 1 half-sister; Sarai Jane Thomas also preceded him. Johnny is survived by his fiancé; Barbara Woodring, 1 daughter; Melody Bryant, 2 brothers; Clyde Watson and Billy Watson, as well as by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 4th at Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jeff Powell and Rev. Jim Ed Powell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mathis Cemetery. Appalachian Funeral Services is serving the family. .
