Obituary of Raymond Calvin Deitz
Raymond Calvin Deitz, 72, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday July 4, 2017. A native of Jackson County he was the son of the late Alvin C. and Ida Carpenter Deitz. At the age of 8 Raymond and his family moved to Prineville, Oregon and then returned to Jackson County at the age of 15. He moved to Brevard with his wife and family from 1968 to 1979 where he worked at Dupont until his retirement. After his retirement Raymond and his wife moved to Honduras for 8 years where he was a coordinator for the North Carolina Baptist Men's Mission. After returning from Honduras he joined Faith Baptist Church as a member and lead Raymond's Raiders building handicap ramps and volunteering for any assistance for the Department of Aging. During these years Raymond and his wife also volunteered with the North Carolina Baptist Men's Mission. He also would enjoy being a mechanic and working with with his hands on old cars. He was very active with his Church in assisting with any of their needs and besides his family the love of his life was his mission group. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by 2 of his brothers; Alvin C. Deitz Jr and Edward Deitz.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 40 years Patsy Jones Deitz

2 Daughters- Cindy Westall (Alex) of Boiling Springs, SC

6 Grandchildren- Justin Deitz, Chase Ensley, Ethan Westall, Justin Westall, Heather Deitz and Cassarah Ensley
2 Brothers- Arnold Deitz of Otto, NC
Charles Kenneth Deitz of Prineville, Oregon
2 Sisters- Nita Jackson of Tigard, Oregon
Lahoma Figgins of Bend, Oregon
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday July 7 at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Peter Mudge, Worth Emory and Tommy Madden officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will be in Stillwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church ( Deep impact Mission Team ), Po Box 9, Webster, NC 28788
