Obituary of Phyllis Ann Fox

Phyllis Ann Fox, 75, of Sylva passed away on July 19th, 2017. She was the daughter of the late William Elbert and Ollie Belle (Jones) Fox. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sylva where she and her sister June were in charge of the beautification of the grounds of the church. Phyllis co-owned and operated Sylva Insurance Agency for 50 plus years. She was a member of the Hospital Board at Harris Regional Hospital for over 20 years, the longtime chairperson of the Republican Party of Jackson County, and President of the United Fund of Jackson County. She was a founding member of SPIR and also a founding member of the Jackson County Athletic Hall of Fame. She served as the current President of the Hooper House Preservation Foundation along with serving many other organizations. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law; Betty Foxx and a niece-in-law; Cathy Foxx. She is survived by her sister; June Fox, her brother; Bill Fox, her niece; Belinda (Rick) Bryson, and her nephew; Barry (Nancy) Fox. She is also survived by one great nephew; Ty (Kieran) Fox, and three great nieces; Haley Fox, Kajol Patel, and Autumn Bryson, as well as by one great great nephew and one great great niece. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 23rd at Victory Baptist Church of Sylva, with Rev. Rusty Wolfrey and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22nd from 5-8 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva.
