Obituary of Alvin Clifton Conner

Alvin Clifton Conner, age 83, of Sylva passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his home. Alvin was born June 21, 1934 in Tuckaseegee, NC to the late Sidney and Mary Jane (Barnes) Conner. He was married to his late wife Willma (Hooper) Conner who passed away in 2000. Alvin loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and digging ginseng. He loved NASCAR and watching the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed the simple things in life. Alvin worked many years away from Sylva doing construction and then worked and retired from Hennessee Saw Mill after 34 years. He is survived by three sons Charles (Debbie) Conner of Sylva; Clifton (Nancy) Conner of Leighton, PA; and Johnathan Conner of Bowmanstown, PA; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother Ralph "Maxie" Conner and one sister Mildred Conner Moss both of Sylva. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Conner was preceded in death by one brother JD Conner and one sister Geneva Conner Bryson. The funeral will be held on Friday, August 25th at 1:30 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 until 1:30 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Appalachian Funeral Services is handling the arrangements.
