Obituary of James Ray Cagle

Mr. James Ray Cagle, 83 of Sylva passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2017. He was the husband of the late Bertie Mae Dills Cagle and the son of the late Ashley and Oberia Austin Cagle. Ray was retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a mail carrier for twenty-eight years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Willetts. He loved his John Deere tractor, farming and his dog "Baby". Mr. Cagle also loved his family and friends dearly and loved traveling to different churches and singing. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by one great grandson, Ronnie Brian Crawford, Jr. He is survived by four children; Kenneth (Dorothy) Cagle, Nancy (James) Conner, Betty (Tommy) Hall and Noel (Carol) Cagle. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Brad Burns, Max Cochran, Earl Holden, and Frank Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Love Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening August 25th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Appalachian Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund at 89 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd. Sylva, NC 28779.
