Obituary of William Pryde Farmer

William Pryde Farmer, 74, of Sylva, gained his wings Sunday, September 3, 2017. Mr. Farmer was born October 11, 1942 in Sylva, NC. He is the son of Horace and Cleo (Bryson) Farmer. He loved his family, spending time hunting, camping and 4-wheeling. His happiest moments were riding his Harley trike with family and friends. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he joined in 1966. Pryde married his wife of 30 years; DeLois Harris in March of 1967 and was ordained as a deacon at New Hope the same month. DeLois passed in 1998. He was also Sunday school super from 1974-1980. Pryde was an electrician by trade. He had 20 years of service with WCU, where he retired in December of 2009. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Pryde was preceded in death by his son-in-law Travis Watkins. He is survived and missed by one daughter; Angela Farmer-Watkins, one son; Scott (Ginger) Farmer. 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Ashlin, Dylan, and Dallas; 1 great grandchild: Morgan; 2 brothers Colonel Lee (Cindy) Farmer of Carlsbad, CA., and Leslie (Jean) Farmer of Sylva. One special sister in law, Sue Adams of Sylva, and 2 nephews, Brandon & Jonathan Farmer. A funeral service will be held, Sunday, September 10th, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The reverends Earl Holden, Ernie Jamison, Mike Moore, and Keith Ashe will be officiating Burial will be in New Hope Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
