Obituary of Iris Eloise Stallings

Eloise Dockery Stallings, 85, of Cullowhee, went home to be with her Lord Monday September 18, 2017. Born April 26, 1932 in Cherokee County, NC., she was the daughter of the late Walter B. and Tommie McDonald Dockery. Eloise was a member of Speedwell Baptist Church; she was a teacher and retired from Sylva Webster High School. She loved to cook, can, tend to her flower garden and was a big advocate for animals, but what she enjoyed most besides her gardening was quilting. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Civic Air Patrol and was always involved with PTA activities. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by 2 sisters; Francis Dockery and Betty Harmon and by one brother, Walter D. Dockery Jr. She is survived by her husband of 65 years- Charles D. Stallings Sr. Son- Charles D. Stallings Jr. (Dawna) of Cullowhee Daughter- Debra Rollins (Kenneth) of Rutherfordton, NC 4 Grandchildren- Allison Barkley, David Stallings III, Douglas Stallings and Sarah Beth Stallings 2 Great Grandchildren- Trey Lawson and Dannin Barkley Sister- Nancy McDonald Dockery of Georgia Funeral Services will be held 4:00 pm Thursday September 21 at Victory Baptist Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Wolfrey officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 prior to the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
