Obituary of Billy Marshall Greene

Rev. Billy Marshall Greene, age 88, of Sylva, left home for Heaven on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 after a lingering illness. He was the husband of Betty Hensley Greene and the son of the late Austin and Beulah Cagle Greene. Bill was retired from Drexel Furniture. He was a member of Locust Field Baptist Church and served the community as a minister. He dearly loved his family and also loved to fox hunt. He was a member of the "Breakfast Club" at McDonald's where he enjoyed hanging out with his friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter; Barbara Greene Ashe, two grandchildren; Adrian and Sydney, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 68 years; Betty Ann Hensley Greene, one daughter; Doris (Ronnie) Melton, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is also survived by two sisters; Elizabeth and Lois, and three brothers; Richard, Thomas and Charles. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 6th at Locust Field Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Carnes and Rev. Avery Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Appalachian Funeral Services is serving the family.
