Obituary of Jesse Ray Melton

Jesse Ray Melton, 87, of the Little Canada Community in Tuckasegee, was called home Monday October 9, 2017 after a brief illness. A native of Jackson County he was the son of the late Walter and Lona (Mathis) Melton. Ray was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons and was an avid cattleman and farmer. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Susie Broom Melton 2 Daughters- Marqueta (Clarence) Owen of Tuckasegee Evelyn (Charlie) Shular of Cullowhee 1 Son- Jimmy (Jeanie) Melton of Violet Hill, Arkansas 6 Grandchildren- Rebecca (Ricky) Morgan of Tuckasegee, Regina Owen of Tuckasegee, Jennifer (Jason) Gregory of Waynesville, Jessica (Paul Wilcox) Shular of Jonesborough, TN, Crystal Shular of Cullowhee, Eric (Natalie) Melton of Quenemo, Kansas and Teresa (Rick) Hodgins of Wellsville, Kansas 4 Great Grandchildren- Mance Gilder, Mattie Morgan, Wyatt Melton and Harper Melton 1 Sister- Alberta Shook Nephews- Bobby and Zack Sorrels, Greg Broom Graveside Services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday October 12 at Melton Cemetery in Tuckasegee with the Rev. Jason Broom officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the Graveside Service at Appalachian Funeral Services.
