Obituary of Dan Harold Cope

Dan H. Cope, 85, of Waynesville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning November 7, 2017. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Charles and Bonnie Mills Cope. Dan was a U.S.Air Force veteran and was a member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church in Sylva. He retired from Dayco Corporation and after his retirement he enjoyed working on appliances. He was truly one of a kind and deeply devoted to his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by 4 of his sisters and one of his brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Susie Pittman Cope 2 Daughters- Rita Carver (Tim) of Maggie Valley Danna Green of Hazelwood 2 Grandchildren- Zane Whitner (Lindsay) of Weaverville Andrea Carver of Maggie Valley 2 Great Grandchildren- Bryn Harriet and Blakely Brothers- Jim, Jack and Donald Cope Sisters- Joyce Plemmons, Sue Felkins and Dot Freeman Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Friday November 10 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs Tim McConnell and Johnny Norris officiating .
