Obituary of Van Buren Conrad

Van B. Conrad III , Known to all who loved him as Buster, age 67 of Sylva, NC passed away very peacefully December 7, 2017 at St. Josephs Hospital in Asheville NC with his family by his side

Buster was born October 17, 1950 to Van Buren Jr and Anna Grimes Conrad in Davidson County NC. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years who loves him endlessly and forever, Lynn Schulhofer Conrad and their two children – Son Bradley Martin Conrad and his wife Tiffany, Daughter Jessica Conrad and her two children Colby and Katelynn. Buster adored his grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Emily Waddell and husband Eddie of Thomasville, NC and Sondra Conrad of High Point, NC. He is survived by a very special Aunt Carolyn “Conka” Conrad Ward of Thomasville, NC. He is also survived by his Father and Mother in laws David and Norma Schulhofer of Waynesville and sister in law and husband, Karen and Tom Albert of Glenville NC and brothers in laws, Ron and Donna Schulhofer of Bradenton, FL and Barry and Ann Schulhofer of O’Fallon, IL. He is survived by multiple cousins, nieces, and nephew that loved him deeply.  He also leaves many friends that he cherished their friendship including his work family and friends he worked with at the NC DOT.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother in law – Trinka and Joe Callahan.

 A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at Appalachian Funeral Home, 7:00 pm Monday December 11th, 2017. The family will receive friends prior to the Service from 5:00 until 7:00

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be donated to charity of choice
