Obituary of John Gorman Rowlson
John Gorman Rowlson died Friday, December 8, 2017 at The Homestead Hospice Home in Waynesville. He was 77 years old. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Florida, Illinois and Tuckasegee for the past several years. He was the son of Charles Rowlson and Joan Carlsen and was born in Evanston, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army in the 1960's.
He was survived by his sister Rosalind Rowlson Behre and her husband Chris, another sister, Rachel Grace Rowlson and husband Richard Potter, his son Kai Rowlson and his wife Melissa, his daughter Kara Rowlson Gullo and her Husband J.F. Gullo, five grandchildren, and four nephews. He worked as a banquet captain for thirty years and was well known at Western Carolina University where he worked in the Banquet and Catering department and as a bartender at many of their functions.
No services are planned at his request.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Jackson County or the David and Gracie Brown Scholarship for the Blind at Western Carolina University.
