Obituary of Ruby Victoria Ridley

Ruby Sutton Ridley, 94, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday January 4, 2018. She was born in Jackson County to the late Andrew Jackson and Lilly Bradley Sutton and was also preceded in death by her husband Claude C. Ridley Sr., who died in 1998, and a daughter, JoAnn R. Blackwell who died in 1992. Her siblings; brothers James Fred and Otis Sutton as well as her sisters; Evelyn S. Waters, Nell S. Nichols, Stella S. Holcombe, Edna S. Gates and Faye Sutton, who passed away as a baby, as well as many nieces and nephews also preceded her in death. She is survived by 3 children- Hazel R. McAbee (Gary) of Waynesville, Claude C. (Sharon) Ridley Jr of Sylva and Rev. Eugene (Gail) Ridley of Waynesville. 7 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday January 8 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Steve Gunter, Eddie Deitz and Delos Blanton Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
