Obituary of Wilburn Hamilton Ashe

Wilburn Hamilton Ashe, age 86, of Sylva died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Homestead Hospice in Clyde. Mr. Ashe was born May 12, 1931 in Sylva, NC. He is the son of the late Hershel and the late Ollie (Cope) Ashe. He served in the U. S. Army. He was employed as a millwright in steel mills in Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters; Willa Mae, Mary Francis, Pearl, Elaine, and Glenda. He is survived by his wife: Shirley Ann (Crisp) Ashe, a son, Joseph, and two daughters, Debbie and Keitha; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother, Ken. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva on Thursday, January 18 at 2:00 pm, officiated by J. D. Grant. Burial will follow in Old Field Cemetery in Sylva, officiated by Avery Brown. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.
