Obituary of Reba Brown

Reba Brown, age 89 of Tuckasegee, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on January 26th. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Reba was born November 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Walter and the late Lille Mae (Fortner) Mathis. Reba loved gardening, quilting and growing beautiful flowers. She was a member of Sol's Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marshall Brown and her daughter, Darlene Brown. She is survived by two daughters, Marketta (Wade) Messer and Cathey (Herman) Mathis and one son, Michael (Joann) Brown, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruby McCoy. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30th. The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31st at Sol's Creek Baptist Church with a viewing one hour prior to service. Reverend Claude Nicholson and Reverend Carl Adams will officiate.
