Obituary of Ila Mae Franks

Ila Mae Franks, age 73, of 187 Garnet Road, Sylva went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at home in Sylva. Mrs. Franks was born July 15, 1938 in Sylva, NC. She is the daughter of the late James Pete and the late Mary Angeline (Williams) Sorrells. She was employed by Mountain Brooks Cottages as a house keeper, and was formerly a seamstress. She enjoyed reading, canning, her flower garden, and playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 51 year: Leo Franks ; three brothers, James Bill Sorrells of Mars Hill, Bobby Ray Sorrells of Sylva, and Jack Browning of Sedro Woolley, WA; her step mother, Alberta Shook of Sylva; a daughter, Mary Kay Franks of Sylva; a grandson, Justin Norman and wife, Angela of Bryson City; a great granddaughter, Payton Norman of Bryson City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm on Sunday, March 18 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Pumpkintown Road, Sylva, NC with Revs. Eddie Stillwell, Mark Bishop, Keith Ashe, and Steve Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva on Saturday March 17 from 6 until 8 pm. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Sylva. Ila Mae's nephews will serve as pallbearers. .
