Where to begin, you are the best cousin anyone could ever wish for. I am so very fortunate that God saw fit to place you in my life. I still hold dear the memories of visiting you, Gene, Aunt Lou Lou and Uncle Charles when we were growing up. I am sadden by your passing, but over joyed that you are now celebrating with your Mom and Dad, and my parents too. I love you like a brother.
Libby and Toby, my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

We were classmates from grammar school at the old Scotts Creek School through graduation from Sylva-Webster. I did not see Harold again for many years, and when we reconnected he was the same person that he had always been. It's good to know that someone was constant in a changing world. Harold's character is a testament to the caliber of good citizen nurtured in the local community during our generation. I'm glad to have known him. When visiting Sylva and traveling Skyland Drive, it has always been my pleasure to admire his well kept place in Maple Springs. My deepest sympathy to his family. God bless.

Go rest high on that mountain when your work on earth is done.My brother you where the kind of a friend many people go through out their life and never meet I am so thankful to have had you for the kind friend that a man can count on his fingers . We sat on that porch and under that pecan tree drinking coffee eating bacon and eggs ,and solved every problem known to man. I will miss you for now but will see you later. Lib Toby Gene and family may God bless you all in a very special way and carry you through this time of loss. LOVE YOU.

The best compliment I ever had was when my wife Rose told Harold I was just like him. He joked and told her, "Get rid of him right now!" But she didn't and over the past 5 years of our marriage Harold and I discovered just how much we were alike. I already miss you really bad, my friend.

Harold was my dear friend.
He and I talked more to each other, than anyone, I would guess. In the last several years we became like family to each other.
Everyday Harold punched the clock at 7:00 on the nose. He was a punctual working man to the end.
When you work beside someone and connect like we did, it is truly a special blessing in life, a big chapter in my life for sure. He knew me. I knew him and my life is already much changed without him.
He was and will be such an influence on me the rest of my life, second only to my father, who passed earlier in September. I feel inside, I have lost two fathers this year.
Harold and I said our good-byes, way too many times, before the final time we held hands.
Harold was an honest, trustworthy, faithful man that loved his friends and family, didn't cuss or look for any trouble. He always turned right, and stayed straight. The last of the real supermen, that set standards for other men to try to live by or up to.
He told me so many things that were wise. I am so sad that I will not get to sit and just talk with him anymore. Yet happy for the time I was given with him.
Harold carried a cross in his pocket, worn thin from the years, and a picture of Libby from high school in his wallet, he loved Libby. It looked as good as the day he first put it in there. Harold had values. He and I just connected.
Rest in painless peace my good, dear friend. You will be sorely missed by me. I could never say enough about you and you are irreplaceable in my life. "when I wake up, to sleep no more" God Bless

Harold was a wonderful person. I believe on March the 15th Harold joined my brother (Poker) "the playground in Heaven is your new Home". We talk about our memories and those who help make them. Today HAROLD is part of many "good memories" that family and friends can hold on too. Toby your Dad was one of the good ones and so are you!

Harold was as fine a friend as anyone could ask for. He has become part of the stories I tell friends around the fire, like how to keep a dog from coming around your place, with the biggest smile on my face. I felt very privileged to know Harold and with the warmest of heart I will always call him kin.

Frosty was the constant at the Sylva Herald- the one you could always depend on with his honest, no-nonsense way of getting things done, his ready humor and his grin that could ease away deadline stress. When we’d put the paper to bed on Wednesdays he’d say, “Did ‘er again. So much fun let’s do it again next week. Want to? I never had a finer friend. How he faced death straight on is a tribute to his true character. Love ya, man.

Sam Walter Foss wrote "let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man." These words always came to mind when passing by and seeing Harold on the carport at his house; he always waved at the passing cars. What a good man, a friend to all, has passed from our midst. Peace and comfort to Libby and family.

Harold, without a doubt was one of the fairest, kindest and most compassionate people you'll ever meet. He was the kind of person who'd give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I had the pleasure of working with him for almost nine years. I never heard him complain or talk bad about anybody ever. Whenever I'd drive by his house, I'd honk and he'd be sittin on the front porch and throw his hand up, always put a smile on my face. It's really hard to know that he's not here now, but I know he's in a better place. Over the last few months, whenever we'd talk, he'd say "love you," to me, and to everyone, because he didn't take any day for granted. I'll definitely miss you and love ya man.
