Diana and family, I was so sorry to hear from Mike Nichols of Jim's passing. He was a good guy and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. I will always remember you as the girl who laughed in arpeggios.
Best wishes and prayers for peace and contentment for your life.

My condolences to the family of this wonderful teacher. It is because of Mr. Fisher that I found a passion and love for percussion that I would have never found without his prompting. He let me into middle school band despite being a year behind, but within a short period could tell that the instrument I had chosen was not well suited to me at the time. In his good natured fashion he said "Go hit that bass drum for this song," and to my elation I discovered how much fun it was to beat instruments with sticks. I know he wasn't as passionate for percussion, but I'll never forget his kindness and instruction. Again, you have my condolences for the loss of this man to be held in high regard, we will remember and miss him.

Dear Fisher family,
Mr. Fisher taught me how to play trombone over 40 years ago. For a shy, awkward middle school girl his kindness and patience were a blessing. During my FHS years he was Ms. Welch's assistant and I was even more glad for his gentle kindness. I recently started playing trombone again in our small church orchestra. And again was thankful for the excellent instruction of Mr. Fisher years ago. I wish I had told him that thanks to him I was playing trombone for the same Saviour he served. I know he would have been glad.
Fortunately, Mr. Fisher was still at MMS when our son joined the band. He was not at all interested in practicing the trumpet that I was sure he would excel at. After a few months, Mr. Fisher took me aside and said "you know your son isn't the least bit interested in the trumpet. I don't usually encourage students to do percussion, but I've noticed he has excellent rythym and beats on everything". Again, I'm so grateful. Our son still praises the Lord with percussin and mallets, and our daughter has followed that path also.
Praying God comforts and fills the void of of your wonderful husband, father, and grandfather that blessed so many with his love for music.
Sincerely,
Lynn (Crawford) Gibson

Mr Fisher also left behind a legacy of being a secondary parent to all of his band students. We will all will miss him and his kind natured tough love through the years he taught us. He will be missed by many. Heaven just gained a great choir/band director.....most of all he loved Jesus and he loved all of us through Christ’s love
