Obituary of Nancy Jean Decker

Nancy Jean Decker, age 80, of Sylva passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Elizabeth House of Flat Rock, NC. Nancy was born April 28, 1937 in Sylva, NC. She is the daughter of the late Hugh Bert and the late Hazel (Trupin) Bryson. She married to her husband of 62 years M.G. Decker. She is survived by three children; Greg Decker and wife Janet, Mark B. Decker and wife Laura, Melissa Jackson and husband Steve and Deborah Lynn Decker; eight grandchildren; Luke Decker, Laura White, Allison Decker, Kristen Decker, Michelle Decker, Sawyer Jackson, Kandi Cash and Colt Jackson; eight great grandchildren and three sisters; Dorthea Coe, Sara Hall and Dixie Miller. She is preceded in death by two brothers; Hugh Bert Bryson Jr. and Michael Bryson; two sisters; Glenda Crawford and Dorkas Bryson. Nancy was a member of Wesleyanna United Methodist church in Sylva. She retired in 2013 from Blue Ridge Appraisers and she licensed by the NC Appraisal Board. Nancy was also a licensed Real Estate Agent who served on the Jackson County Board of Realtors and also volunteered her time at the Community Table. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Lay Pastor John Mitchell and Rev. Dan Stiles officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wesleyanna United Methodist Church, 145 Garland Buchanan Rd. Sylva, NC 28779. Appalachian Funeral Services are handling arrangements for the family.
