Obituary of Barbara Stump

Barbara Ogburn Stump, 90, passed away March 14, 2018. Born in Kershaw County, S.C., Barbara was the daughter of the late Madge (Williams) and Curtis Ogburn. Barbara and her beloved husband Charles "Charlie" William Stump, Jr., spent the first several years of marriage in Japan, Monroe, LA., Biloxi, MS., Tampa, Fl., and then settled in Maitland in 1963 before his passing in 1974. Barbara worked at Maitland Jr. High School and South Seminole Bank before going to work for WFTV Channel 9 in 1976. In 1978 she became the Public Service Director and continued there until her retirement in 1992. Barbara was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Maitland, was very active in AWRT (American Women in Radio and Television) and an avid reader with a passion for writing. With her passing, she joins her late husband Charlie, her son William C. "Bill" Stump, and her step-son Charles W. "Chuck" Stump III. Barbara is survived by her son David (Lynn) Stump of Maitland, Fla., her daughter Barbara Anne (Stump) Miller (Mark) of Olympia, WA., and daughter-in-law Frances (Beasley) Stump (Bill) of Sylva, NC, and Carole Stump (Chuck) of Ruskin, Fla.. She is leaving behind her grandchildren Curtis "Curt" Stump (Caroline) of California, Jill Arlt (Brian) of Bainbridge Island, WA. Jennifer Richardson (Joseph) of Charleston, SC, Bryan Ahrenbeck Stump and Leigh Anne Stump both of Maitland, and three Great-Grandchildren. Barbara will be laid to rest beside her late husband in Sylva, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. .
