Clearance Middleton

Obituary of Clearance G. Middleton

Clearnce “JABO” Middleton walked into eternity while at his home on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the age of 76.

JABO was born March 9, 1942, to lifelong residents of Sylva, Johnny Coleman and Zadie Gibson Middleton, who have since passed on.  He is survived by only child, DeeDee (Michael) Queen, granddaughter, Mackenzie Queen and two brothers, Bob (Becky) Middleton of Candler and Gene Middleton of Sylva.  He is preceded in death by brother Earl and sister-in-law Macie Middleton.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 in Germany.  He later retired from BASF in Enka after 33 years.  After retirement his time was spent in the places that meant the most: Middleton Pawn Shop, East Main Auto and Harris Cherokee Casino.  In these places he talked to friends, old and new.

Throughout his days he left a lasting impression; once you met the man called JABO you would never forget the camouflage jacket.  He talked about of the past, never planned for tomorrow but lived for today.  He loved to talk about the younger days running the roads and the cars he drove.  With each story he told, you rode with him through the memories that had since become old.

There will be no formal services held at this time.  The family would like to thank all who called, stopped by, the stories they shared, and the prayers they prayed.
