Obituary of James Ronald Jones

James Ronald Jones (Jim), 69, of Sylva, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus in Asheville, N.C. He was the son of the late James Eldon and Elois Hooper Jones of Whitleyville,Tennessee, formerly of Sylva. Jim (also known as Ronnie in his youth) served in the United States Air Force for fifteen years as a photographer and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon returning to Sylva, he was self-employed in photography, landscaping and electrical field. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching our beautiful sunsets and socializing with friends. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; James and Flora Greenarch Jones of Goodlettsville, TN., maternal grandparents; Zack Hooper of Canton, NC and George and Cordie Wood Jones of Sylva. He is survived by two children, Misty Cunningham of Maggie Valley and Ty Jones of Sylva 2 grandchildren- Tyler and Cassie Jones 2 Sisters- Joyce Jones (David) Puckett of Cookeville, TN, Freida Jones (Jim) Whitaker of Gainesboro, TN 1 Brother- Wayne (Brenda) of Whitleyville, TN He is also survived by four nephews and one niece Close special friends are Charles and Linda Queen, and Gwen Hooper of Sylva At James's request, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend many thanks to the Sylva EMS and the Care Team at Asheville Memorial Mission Hospital.
