Obituary of Lyman Coy Mathis
Lyman “Buck” Mathis, age 90, of Little Canada, passed away on Monday, June 25th, 2018. He was the son of the late Boone and Emily Mathis.
Buck was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Little Canada. He worked as a logger, on a Christmas tree farm as well as in a nursery until his retirement. Buck dearly loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; Farus, Darus, Eldon, Roy and Verlon Mathis and two sisters; Oma Galloway and Pansy Owen. He was the last surviving child of Boone and Emily Mathis. He was also preceded in death by a few nieces and nephews.
Buck is survived by a special nephew; Jimmy (Carlene) Galloway, a special great nephew; David (Kaileigh) Galloway, a special great niece; Dana (Brandon) Palmer and three special great great nephews; Branson, Raylon and Brenlin. He is also survived by two brothers in law; Jim Galloway and Carmel Owen, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Little Canada with Rev. Herman Mathis officiating. The family will speak to friends from 11:00 until 1:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mathis Cemetery.
