Obituary of Curtis Melvin Gentry

Curtis Gentry, 74, of Sylva went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 28th, 2018. He was the husband of Jackie Gentry and the son of the late Ralph Gentry and Velma Hughes.

 He was a member of Balsam Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver for Jackson Paper. Curtis loved bowling, fishing and playing golf. He was known for his laughter and fun-loving spirit and dearly loved his family.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Curtis is survived by Jackie, his wife of 51 years. He is also survived by one daughter, Connie (Ernie) Jamison, one son; Dwayne (Julie) Gentry, two granddaughters; Megan and Hannah and two grandsons; Logan and Joshua.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at Balsam Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Jamison and Rev. Greg Cullen officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to:  St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
