Obituary of Roy Michael Fisher

Roy Michael "Buddy" Fisher, age 73, of Sylva passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Skyland Care Center. Roy was born April 14, 1945 in Sylva, NC to the late Roy Jasper Fisher and the late Emma Leona (Curtis) Fisher. Roy was an active member of East Sylva Baptist Church and retired from Jackson Paper in 2008. He enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Montana and riding his Harley Davidson. Roy also loved getting together at least once a month with his former 1964 high school classmates. He is survived by two children, Doug Fisher of Asheville and Pam Cabe and husband Coleman of Sylva; two grandchildren Jackson and Ethan Cabe; the mother of his children Iris Fisher; three brothers Jimmy, Charles and Carroll Fisher; one sister Emma Jean Erickson; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 7th, 2018 at 2 pm at East Sylva Baptist Church with Rev. Reed Benson and Rev. Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, we'd like donations to be made to the Sylva-Webster High School Class of 1964 Scholarship Fund.
