Obituary of Dellia Nicholson

Dellia Ashe Nicholson, age 91, of Sylva passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 in our local hospital. Dellia was born on August 1, 1926, to Sherrill and Myrtle Ashe. She was married to the late Andy Frank Nicholson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four siblings, Henry Ashe, Charlotte Powell, Gordon Ashe and Corbin Ashe.

Dellia was a member of John’s Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sew, garden and would much rather be outside working than inside cleaning the house.

She is survived by one son Delane Nicholson and wife Clara of Sylva; one grandson Darrell Nicholson and wife Amanda of Franklin, NC; two great grandchildren  Keeley Shaye and Brayden Lane; one sister Wilma Young of Sylva and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Earl Holden and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
