Obituary of June Coward

June Coward, age 85, of Balsam passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. She was the wife of the late Carl Coward Sr. and the daughter of the late John and Emaline Blanton.

She was a member of Balsam Baptist Church. June dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening. She was known for her generosity and giving spirit throughout the entire community.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one grandson; Nathan Hall and three brothers; Daniel, Jay and Bill Blanton.   

June is survived by four children; Anita (David) Hall, Sheila (Frank) Stirling, Carl “Buddy” (Brenda) Coward Jr. and Martha (Kyle) Messer. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Melissa Hall, Shaun Nunley, Brooke (Brett) Ledford and Emily Coward, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. June was “Nanaw” to a multitude of those who dearly loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at Balsam Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva.
