Obituary of Gary Dean Anders
Gary Dean Anders, age 69, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home in Glenville. His passing ended a valiantly fought battle with cancer. Dean was born February 27, 1949 in Sylva to Vernon and Peggy Ensley Anders. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Dean grew up in a tight knit family that included loving parents, three brothers and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Later he was surrounded by nieces and nephews in addition to his son, and he loved them all dearly. Growing up Dean loved to fish and hunt, and this love continued to be cultivated throughout his life and passed down to his son and grandchildren. Dean enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was frequently found on a ball field or in a gym watching them participate in various activities.
Dean is survived by his son, Tim (Amy) Anders, and two grandchildren: Davis Anders and Clarke Anders. He is also survived by his father, Vernon Anders, and three brothers: Wayne (Judy) Anders, Randy (JoAnn) Anders, and Jerry (Barbara) Anders. Surviving nieces and nephews include: Chad (Sheila) Anders, Justin (Maggie) Anders, Autumn (Josh) Anders Neesam and Brandi Anders, and many grand nieces and nephews were greatly loved. Dean had an incredible spirit and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 5th at Appalachian Funeral Services with the Reverend Johnny Norris officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Tuckasegee Baptist Church Cemetery.
